The 3 Gaps: Are You Making a Difference? , Hörb...

We all eventually ask ourselves the question, "Am I making a difference?" We want our lives to have meaning. We want to contribute through our work, our family relationships, and our interactions with others in our community. But just as an airline flight attendant will tell you to put your own oxygen mask on before assisting others, getting your own life together is the first step to making a positive impact on the world around you. In this new book, FranklinCovey cofounder Hyrum Smith shows that achieving a meaningful, fulfilling, and impactful life is a straightforward process. He identifies three root causes of stress, dissatisfaction, and pain, which drain the energy we need to make a difference: the gaps between where we are and where we want to be. The first is the Beliefs Gap: the gap between what we believe to be true and what is actually true. The second is the Values Gap: the gap between what we value most in life and what we actually spend our life doing. The third is the Time Gap: the gap between what we plan to do each day and what we actually get done. Using inspiring true stories of people who have overcome difficult challenges, the author offers a practical blueprint that we all can use to close each of these three gaps in our personal and work lives. He shows how this will result in the inner peace so necessary in dealing with the chaos in the world today. Smith provides the concepts and the tools to move from the life you currently have to the life you really want. 1. Language: English. Narrator: Jeff Hoyt. On the German passenger market, airlines approach different business concepts in order to cope with the threats and to be successful. The case of the Lufthansa Passenger Airline and its subsidiary Germanwings has been discussed many times currently. Together they have implemented a restructuredconcept of the Low Cost Carrier Germanwings in order to overcome their weaknesses. The purpose of this paper is to evaluate the potential of economic success of this strategy change. Therefore, the papercomprises three main areas. The first one is the theoretical part, which explains the differences between Full Service Network Carriers, Low Cost Carriers, Regional Carriers and Leisure Carriers. Secondly, the analysis takes place by applying Porter s five forces model. Subsequently, the strengths and weaknessesof the Lufthansa Passenger Airline and Germanwings are highlighted and the new business concept isintroduced. Finally, all findings are put into relation using the SWOT-analysis.

The lean agile enterprise concept is demystified and translated into action as the author shares his experience with both success and major failure in areas such as healthcare, insurance, major airline, manufacturing, financial services, education, and big data. The author shares the good, the bad, and the ugly of enterprise-level adoption of lean startup practices (what we call a "lean corporation"). The book provides step-by-step instructions specifically targeted to technologists in multiple roles-from CEO to a developer on the ground-on how to build a "lean agile corporation" and avoid common traps. Building on the experience of the "lean startup" framework of Steven Blank and Eric Reis, this book takes these concepts to the enterprise level by providing tips and best practice guidelines, sharing "horror stories" and common anti-patterns in a fun and engaging way. What You'll Learn Discover how you can contribute to your company as it becomes a lean agile corporation and survives technological and digital disruptionBeat Facebook, Amazon, Apple, and Google at their own game by using methods they use to quickly experiment with new services and featuresUnderstand how to advance your career in a lean startup frameworkKnow how you can trace your company's success to your daily work Who This Book Is For Those in technology and business who are interested in strategy, business agility, management, execution, new technologies, and in the future of the business world.

Research Paper (undergraduate) from the year 2012 in the subject Business economics - Business Management, Corporate Governance, grade: A, Oxford University, language: English, abstract: The aim of this report is to provide a fair understanding on the Integrated Management Project (IMP) theories. The key aspiration of this study is to make a fair review of requirement of strategy within an organization. IMP is the integration of the critical requirements of a business to run efficiently and successfully. It requires various theories, strategies and techniques which can help the organization to work efficiently and prosper in future. The report has been divided into three sections. The first section of the report portrays the company analysis of the firm, EasyJet airlines. The firm has been proven very successful with its unique approach and customer oriented services. But due to various reasons, its main market segment, Europe, appears to be saturated with the low-cost airlines of similar nature. The first section reflects the face of the airline industry with the introduction to EasyJet. This firm comes in the top ranks of the European low-cost airline market, but still faces the risk its market being declining. This section shows various aspects which EasyJet holds as assets and how it achieved its success. Furthermore, the report discusses the various strategies EasyJet has adopted and various more which the firm needs to adopt and take care of in order to recollect and enhance its massive brand image. The second section reviews the critical strategic theories which can be very important and beneficial for an organization like EasyJet. It has been discussed thoroughly with a view to analyze the theoretical concepts and its significance for an industry. Such theories are the basis of an effective organization and EasyJet can greatly benefit from its efficient implementation in short and long-run. The final section of the report reflects the reflection on the personal view of the report and the working behind the same. It shows the activities and tasks involved while preparing and various learning events during the course of report.

Large Scale Linear and Integer Optimization: A ...

There is a growing need in major industries such as airline, trucking, financial engineering, etc. to solve very large linear and integer linear optimization problems. Because of the dramatic increase in computing power, it is now possible to solve these problems. Along with the increase in computer power, the mathematical programming community has developed better and more powerful algorithms to solve very large problems. These algorithms are of interest to many researchers in the areas of operations research/management science, computer science, and engineering. In this book, Kipp Martin has systematically provided users with a unified treatment of the algorithms and the implementation of the algorithms that are important in solving large problems. br/ Parts I and II of emLarge Scale Linear and Integer Programming/em provide an introduction to linear optimization using two simple but unifying ideas-projection and inverse projection. The ideas of projection and inverse projection are also extended to integer linear optimization. With the projection-inverse projection approach, theoretical results in integer linear optimization become much more analogous to their linear optimization counterparts. Hence, with an understanding of these two concepts, the reader is equipped to understand fundamental theorems in an intuitive way. br/ Part III presents the most important algorithms that are used in commercial software for solving real-world problems. Part IV shows how to take advantage of the special structure in very large scale applications through decomposition. Part V describes how to take advantage of special structureby modifying and enhancing the algorithms developed in Part III. This section contains a discussion of the current research in linear and integer linear programming. The author also shows in Part V how to take different problem formulations and appropriately `modify' them so that the algorithms from Part III are more efficient. Again, the projection and inverse projection concepts are used in Part V to present the current research in linear and integer linear optimization in a very unified way. br/ While the book is written for a mathematically mature audience, no prior knowledge of linear or integer linear optimization is assumed. The audience is upper-level undergraduate students and graduate students in computer science, applied mathematics, industrial engineering and operations research/management science. Course work in linear algebra and analysis is sufficient background.
